My Inch-Long Bangs

I was 13 in the late 80s, when poofy hair with big, high bangs were the in thing. I could never seem to get my hair the way I wanted it. I was a nerd, and always seemed to be just behind the latest fashion, or way ahead of fashion trends-nevertheless, I got made fun of for both.

You always see kids that are, like, about 4 or 5 with uneven hair-you hear the horror stories about how little Kayla got a hold of the scissors and screwed her hair up. Well, what excuse do you have when youre 13 and old enough to know better?

I got my moms scissors and began to trim my bangs. I couldnt seem to get them even, no matter how hard I tried. I just thought, if I take a little more off this side, itll even out. Before I knew it, my bangs were about 3 inches long on one side and 2 inches long on the other.

My mom caught me and ripped the scissors out of my hands. She was like, "Oh good job!!! Now I have to even them out for you!" She sat there snipping and snipping and when all was said and done and had these horrible, thick, inch-long bangs!!!

Of course I had practice that night, and when I went my friends just roared with laughter. The first day back at school, I didnt know what to do with them, so I spiked them up with hairspray. I got lots of looks and laughs. It sucked!!!
