Drug, Alcohol, and Tobacco abuse class

School

I finally went back to college at the age of 33. As one of the older students, I had always felt like I was 60.

Trying to fit in, I always answered the professor's questions, and contributed to the conversations. I had a class on Drug, Alcohol, and Tobacco abuse. When we were talking about addictions--the professor asked if any of us had any problems with addictions. Nobody spoke up, so I loudly announced I had a major problem with Coke. The room became silent, and it hit me that I meant the Diet Coke kind, but the kids thought I meant Cocaine. I could feel my face turning red, and tried real hard to explain. By then the class was laughing, and the professor had jokingly thanked me for my brutal honesty. He even asked if there was anything the class could do to help me. From then on, the kids called me the hippie druggie. I learned after that to choose my words very carefully
