I would only say that would be embarrasing if you wrestled in one of the upper weight classes like a team mate of mine had to. But i can see where your coming from. Most people here probably don't wrestle and have never seen many girls wrestle. I have only seen one girl who was unbelievably good, and she has been wrestling since she was really little. One kid on my team had to wrestle a girl his first match and won but was so nervous he got several cautions.

You were in a lose-lose situation. If you had won, it would have been no big deal because you beat a girl. If you lose (as you did) then it's much worse because you lose to a girl.

This is, by far, the most embarrassing story that I've seen on this whole web-site! Needless to say, I scored this one as a 5. It's a shame that you couldn't have gotten a rematch with this girl when you got into high school. I know that bad losses are a part of playing sports, but I think that I'd probably be so embarrassed that I'd just quit wrestling if this ever happened to me. I would be upset too but hey just congrat her and leave it to be. I'm sure that your friends wouldn't be laughing if it was them. so a girl beat you...I have a friend who is deaf that wrestles and went to state. and I've seen dwarfism out on the mat.
too bad for you that they had to see you get beat....just remember they would have probably done way worse.

Dude - I'd have been embarrassed too. After the first 30 seconds you knew that she was in good shape and had better balance than you. Once you started to run out of gas and she got the cradle it was only a mater of time. No matter how hard you struggled, she'd weaken you until finally you'd be rolled back onto you shoulders with your legs flailing helplessly in the air while the crowd went nuts calling for the pin. Something similar happened to a kid on our jv team freshman year. It was early in the season,and he turned up kind of out of shape. In a novice tournament he had to wrestle a girl. She was weaker than him, but fast and fit. When he couldn't pin her early on in the match, she started to wear him down. By the thrid period,he was weakening fast and gasping for air. Finally, she grapevined her legs through his, then shifted her hips and rolled him over. He tried to bridge, but she just rode him out until the ref called the pin. He had been ahead on points and would have won if he could have held out for 10 more seconds. She was good looking,and seeing her take him was kind of hawt.

A guy on my hs team met a similar fate. He wrestled at 130 and before the match made jokes about how ez and fun it would be. He scored a few points early on, but she was able to hang in there and wear him out. by the middle of the 3rd period he was out of gas, and she reversed him and put him on his back. He could hardly move, and just rolled around while everyone in the gym was going nuts cheering for her to pin him. To make matters worse, when she turned him belly-up he was sporting wood.

I have news for you, girls/women are competing against me more and more and proving they are not be belittled because they are not male. they are winning and proving themselves. my wife and I have wrestled a few times, i have never been able to pin her, though she has not pinned me every time, she is definately the champ in this house. She is not as strong as me, though her legs are definately stronger than mine and she is good with them. She is quicker than me, she has much higher stamina and endurance than me and that has proven to make the difference. The first time i lost to her i was embarrassed, we talked about it she let me know that i am not the only guy she ever defeated and i have come to accept that she is just a better athlete than i am. I respect her and her abilities. more and more guys have to start accepting defeat to girls as more and more females compete against males.

We had wrestling in gym class and the smallest guy had to wrestle me (girl) because ther was no boy his size. I could tell he was scared and sure enuf I got him on the mat after a minute or so. In the second period he started on his hands and knees, and I managed to hook his leg and get him flat. It took a while, but I finally rolled him and then cradled him for the pin. He kicked and fought, but I won. Yay grrrrllllls.
